“Peter Obi is our Moses”- Nigerian celebrities react as Tinubu, Atiku absent at Presidential debate

Junior Pope and Uche Maduagwu have reacted on social media after PDP and APC presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Ahmed Tinubu were respectively absent at a recent presidential debate.

Their absence sparked a protest at the Presidential Town Hall Meeting in Abuja after Tinubu was absent and Atiku Abubakar did to show and instead, sent his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to represent him.

Labour Party’s Peter Obi, New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso and Kola Abiola, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party attended the debate which was organized by the Centre for Democracy and Development and Arise Television.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of APC, was not present and the ruling party was not represented.

Some spectators however interfered with the ceremony and demanded that only presidential candidates should take part.

When calm was restored, all four candidates on ground were allowed to talk to the audience for a few minutes.

Okowa later explained why his principal, Atiku Abubakar did not attend. He said: “Atiku Abubakar duly obtained permission from the organisers of the town hall meeting for him to be represented and that permission was duly given. Atiku Abubakar is outside the country and he has asked me to represent him.

“I think that answers the question to earlier concerns raised. This is just a town hall meeting not the actual debate.”

While reacting to the report, Uche maduagwu wrote: “Ordinary debate, Dem run, but if Na to steal money now, they will be present with Bullion vans, and Custom speed, Peter OBI is our Moses”

In the same vein, Junior Pope wrote: “Them no send Nigerians ever since nah; this shouldn’t be a surprise to you all…..”
