The White House has said that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will converse with newly inaugurated U.S. President Joe Biden very soon.
Press Secretary Jen Psaki has revealed that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would be the first foreign president to talk with Biden since he was inaugurated.
Biden and Trudeau have a lot to talk about as Biden signed an executive order effectively cancelling the US$8-billion Keystone XL pipeline expansion hours after he was inaugurated.
Trudeau has said in a statement that he was disappointed in the decision, but still appreciates the commitment of Biden to climate change. The appreciation goes to show that Canada will not push hard for the decision’s reversal.
In the statement, Trudeau said workers across Canada would always have the support of federal government.
Trudeau applauded some of Biden’s other Day 1 decisions, including rejoining the Paris climate accord, blocking oil and gas drilling in the Arctic and renewing ties with the World Health Organization.
