The 30-year contract for maintenance of the LRV fleet, catenary and trackside infrastructure on the Toronto’s Finch West (Line 6) light rail line project has been awarded by MOSAIC Transit Partners Maintenance (MTM) to Bombardier Transportation.
As expected, The LRVs will be a fleet of 17 48m-long Citadis Spirits with a capacity of 321 passengers, which were directed in 2017 by Ontario transport authority Metrolinx after the termination of a previous contract with Bombardier in 2016 because of delays.
The 11km $C 1.2bn ($US 934.4m) line, which is planned to open in 2023, will operate from the existing Finch West station on Line 1 to the north campus of Humber College in Etobicoke and is expected to serve 18 stations. The line is expected to serve no fewer than 40,000 passengers every day by 2031.
The execution of the project is being done through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) of Infrastructure Ontario; Metrolinx; and MTM’s parent, Mosaic Transit Group (MTG), a consortium championed by ACS Infrastructure Canada, CRH Canada and Aecom. MTM is a joint venture of ACS and Aecom.
Work commenced in 2019 and is being done by MTG under a $CA 2.5bn design, build, finance, maintain contract that was awarded in May 2018.
