At least five countries have banned flights from South Africa owing to the discovery of new COVID-19 strain in the country.
According to Bloomberg, South Africa’s Minister of Health had earlier said that scientists have discovered that the hike in the number of Covid-19 infections in the country is induced by the new strain of the virus.
ANI has reported that Saudi Arabia, Germany, Israel, Turkey and Switzerland have suspended flights from South Africa to curb the spread of the new strain of the coronavirus.
Measures for passengers who are already travelling to these countries from South Africa have been announced by the respective departments.
