The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk has become the richest man in the world, with a net worth of over $185 billion.

A recent rise in his company’s share price pushed Musk above Jeff Bezos, who had been the richest person since 2017 and is currently worth about $184 billion.

While reacting to the news, Musk tweeted: “How strange. Well, back to work …”

His electric car company has increased in value and hit a market value of $700bn for the first time recently.

In November 2020, Musk moved past Bill Gates to become the second-richest person in the world. According to Bloomberg, Bill Gates now ranks third with a net worth of $132 billion.

The shares of Tesla recently traded at about $790 while its market value has grown to $737.6 billion.

The wealth of Elon Musk increased to the tune of over $150 billion in 2020 due to the fact that he owns about 20 percent of Tesla stock.
