Canadian fashion mogul, Peter Nygard has filed an application for bail, two weeks after her was arrested in Winnipeg under the Extradition Act after he was indicted in the United States on charges related to women and girls’ trafficking.
The bail application will be heard in the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench at 10 a.m. on January 6, 2021.
Nygard faces nine counts in the Southern District of New York which include sex trafficking of a minor, racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, and two counts of transportation for purpose of prostitution.
The 79-year-old fashion icon stepped down from his company in February 2020 after his Head Office in New York was raided by the FBI and New York City police.
He has been accused by no fewer than 57 women in a class-action lawsuit of sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking while two of his sons filed a different lawsuit against their him on the grounds that they were statutorily raped at Nygard’s direction when they were teenagers.
