The Confederation of African football (CAF) has pledged to support the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in its search for the missing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy.
A one time EFA Vice-President, Ahmed Shobier had recently claimed that the Nations Cup trophy could no longer be found at the EFA headquarters in Cairo.
The Pharoahs were presented the trophy for keeps after winning the title three times in a row in 2006, 2008 and 2010 under the tutelage of legendary coach Hassan Shehata.
While reacting to the development, CAF disclosed they would give the necessary support to the EFA in a bid to recover the missing trophy.
The highest football governing body in Africa said: “CAF has learnt with shock reports of missing AFCON trophies from the Egyptian Football Association secretariat.
“Our doors are open and the @EFA can count on our support in the search for the priceless memorabilia.”
