The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has made it known that the state government will take ‘the next step’ in respect of the quit notice issued to the herdsmen in Ondo forest reserves.
Also, the governor had banned night grazing and prohibited underage herders in a bid to forestall kidnapping in the state.
While talking sbout the development, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo said the state government “will wait for the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum handed down to the herdsmen occupying the forest reserves before it will know the next step.”
There has been a lot of debates after Akeredolu issued the quit orders to Fulani herders but it was reliably gathered that the Governors of states in south-western Nigeria would meet to deliberate on the matter today.
